“I Can Do That” is the name of a short lived television series. It is also the answer to the question now being asked regarding an employer’s requirement that employees be vaccinated before being allowed to return physically to work.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has issued guidance making it clear that yes, employers can mandate that their employees receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The only requirement is that their requirements comply with all existing equal employment laws and adhere to CDC safety protocols.
There are exceptions – health and religious beliefs being the most prevalent.
In reality, however, less than 50% of the employers surveyed actually plan to enforce such a requirement. And yes, employees can also be terminated for not complying.
